mullet like me RSS

In 1959 journalist John Howard Griffin darkened his skin for an undercover experiment with racial tensions that would later be published as 'Black Like Me.' Now, fifty years later, a man with markedly less courage takes on a mission with markedly lower stakes. -------- contact: mulletlikeme@gmail.com twitter: @mulletlikeme

mulletdrive — awful wheels for a bitchin’ cause

you’ve always wanted to help a man with a mullet purchase a beat up camaro, right?

and do it for a good cause? (as if assisting a mulleted-american in need isn’t noble enough)

your chance has arrived. and it will all benefit goodwill / easter seals

i’ve got my eye on a few different cars — primarily camaros and trans ams — that will lend a bit more cred to my experiment.

if we raise enough to cover the cost, i’ll purchase and drive said vehicle until the experiment is over — documenting the entire process with too much detail, of course.

in all seriousness, i thought it was high time to use the popularity of mulletlikeme for something constructive and have a little fun while we’re at it.

how will it work?

we’ve partnered with goodwill to harness the power of the ever-growing pro-mullet community.

if we raise enough i will buy a camaro/trans am/similar and give it to goodwill’s car donation program on the day the mullet comes off.

what if you raise more than the price of the car?

if we raise more than enough, the remainder will go straight to goodwill as a cash donation.

what if you end up raising fourteen bucks?

if we fall short, what we raise will be donated goodwill.

is this for real?

yep. if you’ve got questions, contact bethany mammenga at goodwill: bmammenga@goodwilleasterseals.org

either way i hope to bring lots of lighthearted attention to the important work goodwill does. not to mention how easy their car donation program is. (time to get rid of that pinto, jimmy)

together, we can do something truly great.

donate the price of one light beer or an entire keg. get people involved around the office. organize a pro-mullet meetup in your neighborhood. use it as a way to talk to your kids about mulletism. etc.

i’ll update the progress every so often, so be sure to check back and spread the word to your non-mulletist friends.

the chipin widget in the right sidebar should make giving very easy.
