tonight: camaro summit meeting
in a few short hours i will find myself face to face with tom peters — designer of the new 2010 camaro.
much like a fine wine, the camaro has historically needed the benefit of elapsed time to be truly appreciated. but just looking at the 2010 you can tell it’s loaded with tasty automotive tannins.
yes, the 2010 is really a throwback camaro — one that might help americans forget about the dark years of the fourth generation (93-02) that caused the once-celebrated car to fall out of favor (and production).
even mulleted americans couldn’t find it in their hearts to embrace the fourth gen. it was far too curvy — resembling some awful hybrid of a chrysler sebring and a dodge neon. unfortunate, to say the least.
i’ve gotten over my initial shock upon learning that the 2010 doesn’t have T-tops. although i still think i’ll be asking peters a few hard-hitting questions about this and similar concerns (where is the tape deck, for example).
i can’t wait to kick the tires on this beast and see how it measures up against the classic eighties rides i’ve been eyeing for goodwill. and of course i’m bringing a van halen CD so i can put the stereo through the paces along with the car.
stay tuned….
oh - and one quick aside on my haircut from fantastic sams yesterday… it’s really bad. it’s not just a bad haircut. it’s a bad mullet. that’s saying something.
